This is the wrong forum for several different reasons, not the least of which is that you should be asking a lawyer these questions, not a group of shadetree mechanics.

I agree with you there. The post doesn't belong in this thread, or forum. He also responded to a thread that was started back in 2000. A new post or thread covering this problem/question in the apropriate forum would help him out better. IMO.
I added the information about Incidential or consequential damages, repairs etc.. cause most people don't realise they may have those rights depending on the state they live in.

I would definately contact a lawyer. Depending on which state you live in, you may be due compensation or you may not. A lawyer would be able to tell you.
