I remember last year spending all day waxing my beast with the old standby turtle wax. this year I want to be smarter and get one of those easy waxes, but I want it to work well and last. I tried some nu 2000 before that was supposed to last 12 months, only lasted 2. any suggestions?
What's wrong with Turtle wax ??? I use Turtle wax liquid on all 5 of my cars & trucks, and it goes on easily, and comes off easily also. Maybe you were using the paste. There are others, such as meguires, zaino, and probably a few more, but I don't think they do anything more than Turtle wax.
On your NU2000, that's not wax--it's a polish--more than likely with a kerosene base. Most of these "miracle" polishes you see on TV are kerosene based and don't last long.
I used Zaino on on previous cars, works awesome but it's expensive, tedious application process and doesn't last long non-garaged cars. I use Meguires on the truck; easy on/off and will last 2 months easy.

zanio is great for durability, probably the best out there, BUT I don't like the greasy seran wrap shine it gives. I use wax-shop superglaze. It has the best shine and pop of anything I've used. It doesn't last that long but I wash and wax my vehicles on a regular basis. Only thing I use, father and brother and all my friends that I have converted. Also, my brother and I own a detail shop.
Well since my truck is new, I tried to stay away from the polishing waxes (like I have used in the past like liquid glass or liquid crystal) for my first couple of waxings (I didn't want any swirlmarks) I just bought meguires Gold class wax and it goes on and comes off easy. It didn't glass up much but my truck is 2 months old and still shined whenever covered in mud and grime I purchased a clay bar and only the hood paint needed it (Everything else was smooth). I used Meguires Carnuba wax on my new chrome 20 inch wheels (@ $500.00 each I wanted some additional protection). I did take my about 4 hours start to finish.Oh and keep the wax away from the black non painted area. Good luck
I like the Mother's liquid cleaner/wax, it cleans, and waxes. The liquid seems a bit faster than paste, but gives a great job. I think the other ones are trendy crap.
Meguires NXT, best ive ever used, and goes on and off easy.
I personally thought NXT sucked, greasy shine, and wasn't very durable. I heard so many great things and I even tried it on different colors, I think it is crap IMHO.

I 2nd that.
Used about every wax-polymer on the market.
The NXT works very well IMO and is pretty much a Zaino knock off though i don't know the chemical composition.
Used Meguire's Cleaner/Wax last year, probably around August. Never washed it all winter long (Rancho's rusted from the salt), finally got the grime off of it.
I can STILL feel the wax on the paint! Water beads up on it too!
I used a cheapo orbital waxer to apply the wax, used terry-cloth towel to remove it, and buffed it slightly by hand.
Amazing...
In the past, I used Turtle wax the same way, and it was gone in a month or two. I've heard Mother's is good too, people put it in the same class as Meguire's.
