Engine in my 88 makes intermittant tapping noise, usually after running for a while at highway speeds. Pulled valve covers. Rocker arm assy on drivers side pretty much devoid of oil. No visible damage. I am thinking that this is source of tapping. Any idea what is causing this, and how it might be fixed? Any info is much appreciated.---Ferg
as far as i have been told the tapping is due to a ppor design in the oil channels that are to lubricate the up assemblies... the only fixes i have seen available are a free floating assembly that can be bought or made ... a good book to get if you are interested in fabricating your self is svuenn preutts book on how to modify 60 degree engines... a trick ihave usd to quiet down my liftes was pour oil in and then use some of the lucas stabalizer stuff in conjucntion and it seems to really quiet them down.. i also use a 20-50 oil weight
