Why the crane 901 cam.

Well... We dont recommend one cam or another at all without knowing more about the rest of the engine build and it's intended purpose. I'd say the Crane 343941 is recommended a bit more often than the 343901.
On the springs, if they're new replacement springs, they'll probably be fine, but I'd strongly recommend you get the matching Crane springs.
