recently purchased 2000 f-250 superduty w/6speed tranny. the clutch started slipping a little last week. just wanted some feedback on where and what type of clutch is best to replace with. most of the clutches that i see online are conversions, is this the best way to go? my sd has 180000 miles on it and it is the origanl clutch. all input would be app. thanks

DW- I replaced my clutch with a LuK upgrade. Very happy with it. Most guys with sticks who post here have upgraded from the stock clutch. Mine threw a spring from the clutch disk, a common failure. I would recommend the LuK. There are others and I think you will find that most are happy with there aftermarket over the stock units. I purchased mine on line from www.thedieselsite.com. Great price. If you go with LuK kit make sure you get the Kevlar pilot bearing with it. If you go with the LuK and your pedal force is very light remove the helper spring on the clutch pedal.
tried the dieselsite.com but keeps giving me an error. does any one else have a supplier at a descent price, and from what i keep reading , it seems that everyone that installs a new clutch is going with a single mass aftermarket clutch. I love the truck and want to do right. thanks for the input.
Your truck has the solid flywheel. Luk and Southbend still replace the flywheel. If the site sponsor doesn't carry them give this guy a call.http://www.beansdieselperformance.com/
Thanks, Cookie and Mech. I hate the stiff pedal of the stocker so I won't be using that one when the time comes. It's too bad too, the price is only around $210.00 wholesale.
If you got 180,000 miles from the stock clutch, I would stick to it and put another stock clutch, especially since you have a 2000 that doesn't have the dual mass flywheel any more.

Wow, great deal. Still worth the money for the LUK from my perspective.
I am under the impression that the 97 F-350 4x4 has a dual mass flywheel.
What all is necessary to change to single mass?
Also, is there any adjustment that can be made to the clutch other than replacing the nylon bushing that wears out and cost nearly $10? Replaced mine but still have to push nearly all the way down to engage the start switch and shift into reverse.
Is this a sign of possible problems?
