Has anybody ever consider this or offers or just stay with the manufactory warranty ,If you have thoughts of goin with a ESP are they ANY GOOD??? Just a thought . THANKS
I have the ESP on both of my vehicles (02 Windstar and 04 screw). Being the 1st model year of the truck...I felt better getting it. I heard you can negoatiate the price with the dealer...give it a try to get the best deal.
they have by far the CHEAPEST prices on Ford Extended Service Plans...
go through the sections to get price, enter your email address etc... but don't follow through at the end.... just exit and check your email...
you will recieve a email from them with a confirmation code for $$$ off... when i first did it the promo code was for $200 off.. i think it's $190 now...
in any matter they quoted me something like $1,400 out the door price for a 5 year 100,000 warranty with $100 deductible......
yes, its a really good deal and i am itchin to pull the trigger on it... might have to in a few days.... i'll maybe wait till they send me a promo code for $300 off or something... we'll see......
Always keep in mind that they expect to make no less than 50% net profit on these policies. In plain English, they don't believe that they will spend more than 700 dollars on an average policy that they will charge 1500 hundred dollars for.
That allows 100 dollars to spend on the plan sell/administer/defend in court, etc., and 700 dollars to spend on repairs, and 700 dollars to keep.
While one in a dozen or so may get their costs back, the company selling the plan is betting that at least 11 out of 12 won't get half their money back.
You have much better odds in Vegas at the slot machines...
And they build mighty big casinos with your losses...
I have had these extended warranties twice, both times because it was part of the sale, take it or don't take the car. I have never got a dime back on either one. The only time I even took the car in, they could not fix the problem after six tries. I fixed it for 5 bucks, after I gave up on my 'free repairs' and did the job myself.
(Just for the technical guys, the torque converter on a 350c would not stay locked.
They messed around for days inside the transmission, and replaced the converter relay and solenoids, etc.
It was a defective thermostat, opening too early, so that the sensor never detected a fully warm engine, and thus would not lock the converter. I replaced the thermostat with one that opened at the correct temperature and everything worked fine. That wasn’t in the ‘repair the transmission book’ that the shops went by.)

Chris, I hear ya... but I think for me it's buying peace of mind..... my previous vehicle was a 00 Nissan Xterra and it had only 1 problem after my initial 3yr 36,000 mile warranty..(1 problem I had to pay for).... the A/C high pressure hose leaked, the A/C stopped working, and it had to be replaced.. The Xterra had 95,000 miles on it and it was five years later........cost me about $350..........
In my book thats darn good.....I didn't buy a Nissan extended warranty on that vehicle.....
However, reading about the various issues with F150's being reported here in these forums has kinda scared me.... I intend to keep my 05 F150 for at least 6 years and so I want peace of mind for 100,000 miles..... besides, repair costs can really add up when transmissions are rebuilt or manifold gasgets have to be replaced etc. etc... that stuff generally costs close to if not more than $1,400.......
What's interesting is they have a link for plans and pricing, but don't provide either without you giving up your info first. my car guy bs warning indicator is going off here. And it didn't ask for the key components on my price request that would drive the cost of the plan- gas or diesel, 2 or 4WD. Do they distinguish these when they quote?
Edit- I went through the info hoops, and they did ask. Now the question is, the price quoted is a few hundred under our cost- which brings a few obvious questions to mind. I'll have to research.

I emailed them and asked if the price quoated online was the "out the door" price"... if any taxes are added or anything else.... they said NOPE... the price quated is the price you pay.... which again, is a few hundred less than I can find anywhere else...
it looks like the site is a dealer site..... if they sell "official" Ford ESP Plans then I can't see how it couldn't be legit? Surely if they were selling bogus plans Ford or someone would have shut them down.....
I'm sure they're selling a legit plan. I also saw they were selling Honda and Acura warranties as well. I'm sure there's a story there, just don't know what it is.
Well I used to never buy them but with all the technology and high priced electronic stuff on the vehicles now I feel they are worth it. Mostly piece of mind but it only takes once. My 99 had the check engine light come on and by the time they found the problem they had replace 1800 dollars worth of parts. My cost was 50 dollars.
As far as the link above it is to a Ford Dealer in Connecticut. They are Lombard Ford out of Winsted, CT. So I would say they are selling genuine Ford ESP's. Although a person should thoroughly check out anything bought over the web from unknown sources.
one thing that i like about their esp plans is that you get a rent a car when you have service done. i tend to fix all my warranty probems because of no car issues. they can keep it as long as they want
