Before I bring her in next week to the dealer. Does anyone know any tricks tips I should look for?
When the front is on full AC not auto it still doesn't work it blows but blows just outside air temp air.
How does the rear AC work does it have it's own system? IS it back by the jack in the compartment on the side?
Thanks guys
Oh yea 02 limited V10....just incase you were wondering.
When the front is on full AC not auto it still doesn't work it blows but blows just outside air temp air.
Wait...the FRONT A/C works but the rear doesn't? Or nothing works?
The rear AC has it's own ...darn what's it called..."thing that the air blows through to make it cold"...whoa...early morning here!....
Anyway...it gets it R143A from the same source as the front AC. If it is not blowing cold air then I would suspect the blend door.
The heater core and the (whatever it's called) is in the back. The heater (coolant lines) and refrigerant lines run from the engine compartment to the to rear HVAC unit under the truck on the right side. The blend doors in the back are control wit hthe switches up front and the slave switches in the back seat.
There are two doors. One to direct air to the roof vents or to send it to the floor. And the other door controls temp.
The rear AC unit is located behind the door with the jack.
First, the AC component that is remaining nameless is the Evaporator (The grill in the engine compartment is called the condensor).
Anyways, besides coolant leaks or coolant too low, there would likely be two things stopping the rear from blowing cold. One is the blend door mentioned above. I'm not sure if there is a cutoff valve for the heater core ... so a faulty blend door might blow hot air.
The other is a valve in the AC line that directs coolant to the rear. The compressor clutch cuts in an out based on the demand for the front... then there is an electronic valve near a 'T' in the line that directs coolant rearward if required.
