Anyone out there know how I can run a virus scan on my laptop? Everytime I try, all I get is a PNTMAIN***** error window. I want to scan for viruses and updates, but can't. My laptop is a Sony Vaio which I am the second owner; my cousin being the first. It came pre-installed with this anti-virus software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
sounds like the program is corrupted, try going to PC cillin website for support. searched for PNTMAIN***** on google, your not alone with your Sony Vaio, did you try to uninstall/reinstall the program?
you may want to try another anti-virus program like Nortons, has worked flawlessly for me on several machines(10+) with no problems. after stating that there will be a few that will post to stay away from Nortons, every buddy has their own likes and dislikes.
I had it on my machine and when it 'ran home to momma' to update, Trend-Micro said that support for it will expire as of (whatever date).
Back on track. . . .
I do believe that the program has a 'time-bomb' or 'death-clock' in it, and now that the program has expired, it won't run.
I strongly suggest to uninstall the program and install a new version, or, you can download and install AVG antivirus (free of charge) from grisoft.com.
My 2¢.
EDIT: As for Norton. . . No way!!! Never again. Been there. Done that.
Either PC-cillin (1st choice - I have it on 3 different machines, or Grisoft antivirus - I have it on 2 machines.)
