I HAVE A 86 F250 WITH A 46 (CARB)THE SMOG PUMP BELT HAS BEEN OFF FOR ABOUT 60,000. WHAT I WANT TO DO IS REMOVE ALL THE SMOG COMPONENTS. WHAT ALL HAS TO BE DONE? CAN ANYONE HELP ME.
Well, let me remember, remove the smog pump and the vacuum hoses to the pump. Your pump, I think would run through some air hoses to a vlave on an air pipe that connects to the back of the heads and probably another pipe that runs to the cat converters. You'll need to remove the metal air pipes that run to the back of the heads and get a plug (looks similar to a heli-coil) from Ford. I'll have to look up the part number, but your Ford parts man will have the part if you just describe it to him.
You'll also have to either plug the hole to the cat or remove your cat all together. You could also pull your EGR which is located beneath your carb. You can pull the carb, remove the EGR plate and associated hoses, plug the various vacuum ports that run to the EGR, and then place a plane carb plate on the manifold and remount the carb.
