i just went to the local dealer. there is actually 2 recalls for the 2000 sd,they were aware of the problem and scheduled me to replace the part right away.one recall is the motor i think, and the other is the wiper motor cover.even though i am not the original owner they said its no charge,of course when i contacted them i told them of the recall and just asked what was involved. thats when they told me,there was no chargethought that was pretty cool good luck deno
I went to the dealership a few months back, asking about the wiper problem. They had no idea. Now I'll march back in with my little print out in hand. If they're nice I may let them change my oil.
when i was at the dealer they fixed the problem in about 1.5 hours. had something to do with the cover, they also checked and topped off all the fluids, and get this....are you ready?it was free of charge.
As in no money? With a smile?! That's great. The local dealership here might give me a coffee. In a small cup.
Do you still have a warranty? Was it like a, "gee...we're sorry that your truck was broken" kinda thing?
I need to flush my tranny and power steering anyway. I figured I'll get that done at the same time. I keep talking about it and never get there. This will motivate me.
not only did i not have a warrenty,i'm not even the original owner! have to be honest i dont know if they were aware of it or not. as far as i have heard they have to honor the recall,i find it hard to believe that your dealer dosent know about the recall. the local dealer here did. i think if you have your little print out it would be kinda difficult to say no. considering ford is paying for it not them. good luck deno
Thanks, deno. I know he knew about it when I talked to him. He seemed to know "where" the problem was. The nice thing is, I'm between two different dealers. They're in competition with eachother.
