thanks guys, apparently hes goin to physio today to see if he can walk on crutches, and if so then he can coem hoem in a couple days, but the doctor said he'll recover fully so thats good!
Most excellent when you can eventually walk away from a mistake. It would stink to be 18 and crippled, my wife worked at a healthcare center where they did long term health care from head injuries. Almost all male, under 21, and gone from the neck down.
FWIW: When someone attempts to back down a hill, everyone but the driver should get out and walk uphill. Especially if it looks like he might have to hit the brakes at all during the descent.
Not recommended for the faint of heart, but, if you wedge your rear wheel against a tree at an angle and cut the wheels, four guys can usually push a light truck around the tree (as a pivot point) to get the truck pointed nose first downhill. Just have a rope or strap wrapped around the roof and tree so it does not flip.
You end up with some sheet metal damage, but, less then if you rolled it.
Crack, I'm sorry for your misfortune. I read your story and wonder how this hasnt happened to my buddy or I yet. My buddy has a '80 bronco, and likes to sorta slide down huge gravel mounds at dangerous angles becuase "it feels cool" I swear, thats exactly what he told me. Not to mention his bronco is raised in the back, I have no idea why it hasnt rolled yet. You said Vancouver? What part of BC are you in? I'm in P.G. Hopefully everything works out alright for you and your friend.
as soon as we spun out he went to hit the brakes and there was nothing, and instead of dumpingthe clutch and stalling it he panicked and left it in neutral and we all know how fast your start rolling in neutral.
anyways, this weekend he made it into a wheelchair for a while and he walked a litte ways on a walker, so hes making progress wich is good.
