So today at school a few of us went in my buddies 4runner during spare to do some wheeling, we went to this hil up the 4mile lookout that is quite steep. there is a little hill before it right on a corner and on the outside of that corner ther is liek a cliff type deal, so its kindof a dangle. Anyways we triedthe big hill once and made it like 2/3s up, I told him to grab 3rd cuz you need speed, so this time we made it a bit further and when we spun out and starte rolling back his brakes failed, so being a greener, he tried to turn off the trail and into the bush to stop it, instead of jsut putting it in gear, and we rolled it. My buddy was sitting in the back, the canopy was off, none of us were belted up, and he triedto jump out or soemthign to that efect and the truck rolled over him......after getting him to the hospital and whatnot, wich took some time itself, it turned out that he had broken his pelvis. He will be flown to Vancouver tongiht for a week or so. Being in a small town this stuff was around before we even got back to school, and now we are in big **** with the principal. But now it prettymuch blows cuz im not to sure if he'll be able to do the same stuff as before......my little story of the day
oh man, thats horrible. glad to hear youre ok. how badly is your buddy hurt? its always tough when things happen like this to a bunch of high school kids. at my school we had one girl die in a car crash, one guy die of heart failure, and two guys murdered. all in one year. hang in there man, we'll be prayin for you
it kind of sounded like they were ditching. or was it after school? but here i can get in trouble at school if i get in trouble outside of school. if i get in a fight tonight, i could get suspended from school. but if it was after school and all, i agree and i dont understand why you'd be in trouble
Crack, your friend should be very thankful his back or neck were not broken. That pretty much goes for all of you. That has to be a very painful injury, I would guess he is lucky he did not die from shock.
becasue we left during school, and didnt tell anyone, and were not aloud to leave with people in the first place so its kinda double duty cuz someone got hurt. I jsut went and saw him...he should be getting surgery tomorrow afternoon or so
i now you guys were out having fun and all and i used to do stuff like that and i am glad everyone is gonna be ok. but thats the stuff that gets offroading such a bad name. kids going out and rolling their suv's trying to going 4x4'ing. safety should be a number one concern and seatbelts should be instictive when taking offcamber or slippery situations.
hope all is well but i do hope next time things will be different and that you learned. also hope you had fun and it was worth it
well my buddy had surgery today and his pelvis is all secured but his hips were fractured aswell, so now he wont be walkign for at least 3months. It was fun, bot not at the same time, if his canopy thing was on then we woulda just rolled and no one woulda got hurt, but I guess all is done now. suprisingly I didnt get in trouble today, considering we skip spare all the time anyway they couldnt suspend us for skipping this time, only the drive got suspended cuz he rolled his other 4runenr in the winter during school, andh e has some pretty heavy fees now cuz of the other day...like 100,000
Hey Crack Thanks for sharing your misshap with us. that just goes to show that bad things can happen when you don't think it will. As stated before your Lucky that that was all that happened. you should take leson learned never go wheeling alone.... and I don't mean 4 guys in one truck is not being alone. I mean when you go wheeling always bring other vehicles with ya and wear seatbelts.. Nuff said Hope he comes out allright..
yea, I've learneda few things from this incident, and we are VERY lucky becasue when we stopped rolling it was right before the first little hill that we came up, and if it went down that hiss there is just a little like 8 foot wide path then a cliff into a creek, so me and my buddy woulda been seriously injured if not dead, im just glad this is all that happend, to an extent. I just talked to his dad and reality is setting in for him so hes not doin so good emotionally anymore, hopefully I can provide him with some comic relief, I mean this is some heavy ***** for a few 18 year olds
Nobody was killed or dismembered so you're good to go. Crap like this happens unfortunately. Sure, we'll all tell you that you guys should have been wearing seatbelts (obviously) but we've all done stupid stuff like this before. In a few years you guys will all look back at it and not wonder why he got hurt but wonder why he's still alive. You'll reflect on a LOT of stupid schiznit that you did back in the day and be amazed you survived it. Trust me . . . I know. What's important is that he's still on one piece, even if the pieces are broken. He'll recover and remember to call shotgun next time. Thanks for posting crack, hopefully this will remind someone else to take the proper safety precautions next time they wheel.
