I recently had trouble with my reverse lights, from the neutral safety switch So i hooked them up direct, using a 30 fuse from battery and relay .Actuated by a luminated toggle under the dash.
Well as good as i 'am i though there would come a day, where i would forget to turn my back-up lights off.Annoying all the people behind me for miles.
Well it came to me!
I went to Canadian Tire and they had a product called "back-up alert"
Made by Design Tech Intl. Its a direct replacement for your 1156 back-up light bulb
Not only does it warn kids etc.. it reminds those of us with toggle switch lights to turn those buggers off.
I think that's a niffty idea popB, but don't you want to fix your neutral safety s/w so it works the way it suppose to? You still can leave your toggle connected in series with the n/s s/w, that way you can use your reverse lights as aux. lights while still in park to hook up trailers at night.
In some states such as mine, a remote toggle s/w alone is not legal and rev. lights need to work with the n/s s/w in order to pass a yearly safety check.

Well Mauicruza if you know how to or if it can be done?
You could tell me how youfix a n/s switch,i actually think it was the black and red stripe wire on my 77 that gave me the problem.Just didn,t have time to pull it apart right now also the weather is cooler up here and you have to pick and chose the day you can work.
Altimately yes i would like to fix the switch and yes it would be nice to have aux and reverse combo.
Any tips pass them this way!
Thanks for the reply!
My apologies PopB when I said to fix the n/s s/w, I meant to replace it. I had to do mine several years ago. I think it cost about $50 but I'm not sure. It might be cheaper from LMC truck. Replacing is pretty easy, shifter link then 2 bolts holding s/w in place. Just make sure you align s/w neutral to trans shifter position neutral. The mounting holes on the n/s s/w is enlarge to allow a little adjustment. Good luck
