just a few days ago i began having trouble putting my truck in gear while stopped. i have the five speed transmission and it shifts fine while driving. i also get quite a loud rattle when i turn the motor off. if i hold my foot on the clutch pedal, i do not get this rattle at shutdown. anyone have any good news for me?
I almost always got a rattle shutting mine off. If you having trouble sticking in gear check the play in the clutch pedal assembly replace your bushings, hydaulic hose and the clutch master cylinder. also you may what to strenghin up the firewall depending on how much it flexs
Bluthunder, I had the rattle at shutdown from the get-go with my new '90.
It was no time at all before it was hard to get into gear from a stop.
I suffered with this for 240,000 miles, when I put in a LUK clutch kit. We found that the Dual Mass MESS had most all the springs broken, causing the problem.
Do yourself a favor and get a LUK. You will be glad you did.

The LUK kit is definately the way to go (if you have an extra $600). The dual mass flywheel seemed to make sense on a drafting table somewhere but it never seems to be anything you can keep without spending the $1000 to replace it with an original.
