Thanks TEX! Finally got some replies on this thread. Its a good thread to have because I searched and couldn't find anything. Do you think KYB's are alright? They come with a lifetime warranty so I brake one their goin back. I also have lift springs coming for the front to get it level.
I think I'll use the credit card in a couple weeks and just buy the other front ones.
I'm not positively sure of this, but I'd have to guess that adding lift to the front would mean changing to slightly longer shocks, which would defeat the purpose of replacing them now. It'd be worth checking out thoroughly, before purchasing the springs, or be willing to suck up the cost of the first pair of shocks to do the conversion.
You will also have to change the bushings to bring things back into alignment, and for a few bucks more, install poly-urethane bushings through-out the front end. You'll find they de-crease the amount of suspension "roll" in corners, and really give the truck a nice feel.
I did an entire body and suspension conversion with the poly-urethane units on my former '69 F100 4x4, and of all the things I did to her, that was one of the nicest. She no longer heaved to the side in corners, but rather, held fairly level, the steering response seemed better, and the new bushings made the body sit up nice and proud again. I used the kit from Energy Suspension.
You are correct. The dual shocks were standard on the Bronco. Mine had them as a component of the towing package. I am not sure of the proliferation with F150's though.
He's not lifting, he's leveling. 1-2" isn't enough to destroy the shock. Even 4" you'd WANT an extended travel shock, but could get by with stockers. Even then, its not hard to move the mount up higher on the bottom.
Roger that Saurian. I never thought about a need to change shocks when I levelled the Bronco. I never had any issues and it seemed to drive better overall. Just a perception, I know, but in many cases perception is reality to folks.

I have the tow package on my 94 f150 (XLT). My understanding was the pickup tow package added the E40D tranny, and the 3.55 gears. If there's more, somebody could post that for me, I'd like to know.
Robert, if you want to switch to quad shocks, its actually not difficult. You just need the shock hoops from a junkyard donor f150/250/Bronco. You will have to do some minor welding, but it wasn't difficult.
You gotta wonder if the Bronco wheelbase demands it with the towing package. Just bought a '96 and it has dual front shocks. My project/last one I'll need truck/utility vehicle/oh what the heck, just a Bronco.
Thanks Tex I appreciate it. I guess I'm going to get the other two KYB's. Just put them on my credit card. Geez everything goes on the credit card!
Ha this past month for my truck I've bought: 5 1/4" Infinity Ref. Speakers, 6x8 Infinity Ref. Speakers, '05 Kenwood H/U, 2 KYB shocks, 2 Flowtech Red Hots, a pair of 1 1/2" Lift Springs, a 400 Watt Amp and I still need to pick up 2 more KYB's....maybe I should stop buying things for a while! Hahahaha
