"Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On Earth, as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our tresspasses
As we forgive those who have tresspassed against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from Evil
For thine is the power
And the glory
Forever and ever
~Amen
~I'm sorry I was late coming here, I was elsewhere occupied.
We cannot know what is to come, but as the Lord wills it, it shall be.
Join me in this prayer if you will. If you are of another religion perhaps you may post an appropriate prayer also.
The earth today is the same as it always has been, even though the people of it have made poor choices in some cases. We must strive to continue God's plan for all of us...
Y'know Greywolf, believe it or not there are people in the world and, yes, even on this board who don't subscribe to your belief system and even find it offensive. We would appreciate you being a little more sensitive to the diversity of the contributors here and keeping your personal worship habits to yourself.
People do have many belief systems and in case you haven't understood the concept behind FREEDOM bill_beyer, let me help you out. What has taken place in NY is an attempt to disrupt everything we as US citizens stand for and for you to try and make a suggestion that Greywolf should keep his beliefs to himself is WRONG. Who the hell do you think you are? I in no way suggest that you should believe as he does and in case you misread he made a suggestion that anyone else of a different faith should maybe post a prayer that would be more of interest to their faith. Just because his faith does not follow along the lines of yours maybe you should be less interested in what the technicallities of his belief are and more on the end result. Many religions are different in that they eat different wear different cloths etc. but unless someones religion includes a great plan of destruction I could care less what they believe as they are only trying to live peacefully as yourself with a state of mind that there is hope and that there is something to look forward to in this world. Given you have the right to your opinion which you have shared this was mine.
How could anyone find that offensive? It is the lords prayer and he was expressing it in the open. You may not believe in it, or understand it, but why would someones beliefs offend you? As long as they dont effect you or your life in any way. If that did effect you, then you are the one who needs to sit back and take a deep breath, and wonder why.
Or did I miss something here?
Amen Greywolf. Thanks for the post. Others on this board do appreciate a simple prayer. Strange that B_B thinks diversity only flows in one direction.
Now why would you think that I think diversity only flows 1 direction? I simply asked Greywolf to be sensitive to the fact that to some people posting prayers is offensive. Period. I have as much right to express my beliefs as Greywolf does to his.

There are people who believe in racism and white supremacy also. Would you be offended by their posts on this board?
If your comparing White supremacy, with the Lords prayer, then you do have problems. It is a simple prayer that is not meant to offend anyone, but to express ones beliefs.
Why must you open these, and read them if you are afraid of being offended?

I'm comparing beliefs irrespective of their perceived merit or whether or not they are politically correct or palatable. If you can't grasp that concept then I suggest you take a class in critical thinking. All I was suggesting was that when posting in a public forum it's wise to be mindful of diversity in beliefs.

I'm not afraid in the least of being offended.

If I take a class in critical thinking, does that mean I will think like you? No thank you, you can keep the "Critical thinking" to yourself. I dont need to be held back in this world, and think close minded. I enjoy this worlds diversity, and like to be open minded to it all. Even people like you, or I wouldn't be wasting my time.
