So, I'm going to the junk yard today to get some explorer springs. I've read about the bolt flip to make it work on the BII, but will I need longer shocks now (like Explorer length?)? Please let me know
i used ex springs from a 92. front coils too.
i used the original shocks in the front but for the back i have air shocks.
i wasn't able to fit 33's before. now i can and i have no body or suspension lift other than doing a ex springs swap. i had to flip my bolt but they were to rusted so i replaced them with grade 8 bolts.
So, if you put the Explorer springs on, you won't run in to and alignment issues? I know when you buy a lift kit, they include all the drop brackets for the front ent to maintain proper geometry.
With the front X springs you might need to get the front aligned, but you will not need anything to get it back right. The 1 1/2 to 2 inches you gain will not give you any problems.
sorry for bringing back such an old thread, but what year explorer springs do you use or is it any explorer sping, and why would you need to "flip the bolt" what bolt are you talking about????? sorry for my ignorance, this is the first i have heard of this mod and am interested in it
The rears off a 91-96 4x4 Explorer.the center bolt in the spring pack sometimes needs to be turned over to work on the BII. The front springs off a 91-95 4x4 Explorer, they have the TTB front axle like the BII.
