Water temp guage placement

Is their another location, other than the factory idiot guage, to place a mechanical water temp sender in a 94-7.3 engine??

I don't really know but....I am thinking about trying to put one in either in place of the block drain (which is probably too close to the exhaust) or pulling out a plug that is on top of my water pump and trying to insert it there.

There is a port on the pax head at the rear, it is diagonally opposite the overheat temp sender on the drivers head. This port will give about a 10*F higher temp reading as it is in the head.

I got one online from ISS Pro,great looking & working gauges,has the complete install kit,under-dash mount required.
