06 expedition ordering question

If I were to order an Expedition now would I get an 06 or an 05? I asked in another forum and was directed here.

Also, someone helped me out with the equipment changes and I noticed that the brake force distribution was discontinued for the 06. Does anyone know why?

Next, why are things that I thought were standard on my 03 XLT not standard on the 05 and I assume the 06. For example, the heated mirrors, heavy duty tow package that included both 4 and 7 pin connector plugs, power adjustable pedals, door lock keypad and I think the LS rear.

I almost bought an NBX off of the lot. It had the DVD but did not have any of the above features listed. I think that I will order one to get it exactly as I want.

Thanks for any and all replies.

2005s are done, it would be an '06. As for the EBD, I have no idea why they dropped it, but I'll try to find out. As for the other equipment, Ford's made it a habit of "de-contenting" their vehicles year after year. Be thankful you can at least get those items as options; talk to anyone with a Super-Duty that didn't get a glove box light, hood insulator, or fender liners. Ford took them out and doesn't offer them at all anymore.

I know that when the 05 came out, the 4.6L engine was no longer available (and it had been standard equipment for all trim levels except NBX). But Ford didn't want to have to absorb the entire cost of the 5.4L 3v engine being standard equipment, nor did they want to increase the base price too much. So they removed the power pedals, electrochromatic rear view mirror, heated mirrors, and driver's side keyless entry keypad from the list of standard equipment. Then they created two new options for the 05: the power pedals (by itself) and the "technical convenience package" containing the other three options.

I also had noticed that the 03 had the LS diff standard but the 04 didn't. Not sure what other differences there were, but in general I think Jeff's right: Ford tweaks the standard equipment with each model year, and ususally that means fewer standard options, not more. And you mentioned the NBX: Ford discontinued that entire trim level mid-stream in the 05 model year. The good news there though is that afterwards, you could order skid plates as an option on the 05 (and now I assume the 06 as well). You couldn't get factory skid plates on an 03 or 04 except as standard equipment with the NBX.
