wet carpet passenger side front

I have an 03 Expedition. I had installed Catchall floor mats when I got it new. These mats come with a plastic screws which gets screwed by hand into the carpet. The Catchalls then snap into place to a nub on the screw.

Today I was removing the Catchalls and taking the plastic screws out and found the carpet wet where the screw had been and also the area immediately around it. The mat had a few drops of condensation on it where it snaps onto the plastic screw.

I don't smell any coolant so it don't think it is the heater core. I crawled under the truck for a brief look and did't see anything.

I am getting an 06 next week and took the mats out in preparation.

Any thoughts from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks
fran m

It's probably from the A/C. The drain sometimes doesn't make it all the way outside and some water drips in that area.

I agree with Triton. Had to take my 2003 f150 back to the dealer for the same problem you described. It was the A/C draining inside the passenger compartment. They had a kit already in stock to take care of the problem - looked like a 90 degree tube that fastened to the firewall and brought the water away from the firewall. Seemed like I wasn't the first one with this problem according to the dealer.

Both my 04 and 05 had the same problem. Clogged drain tube caused the moisture to overflow in the evaporator box. You should be able to feel the moisture all the way up under the dash on the passenger side. The 04 was a little worse, they improperly installed the evaporator box and lipped it over the firewall. The air pressure from the blower allowed the moisture to blow out of the box and into the cabin. That was a nightmare! Took months for them to find the problem.
