I bought a 97 Expy EB w/LLS about 4 months ago and it had new tires (maybe this should have been a clue). I replaced all the shocks about 4-6 weeks ago and I noticed tonight that I have very uneven tire ware on the inside of the front tires. I do not have a pull or shimmy at all even when applying the breaks. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what may be causing this problem? It is not cupping, but more like every other tread is high.....
What did they cost you and is it something I can do myself? I have an artificial elbow and it is hard for me to do alot of things, but I have power tools and can get by with most back yard mechanic work. Is there anything special I need to know? I will begin looking at my book tomorrow to understand it better.
i would start by finding a good alignment shop in your area and dropping the $80 or so on a "computerized 4 Wheel Alignment" when they get you up on the lift with the Hunter machine, they'll be able to either diagnose the problem or align everything and problem solved.
Yea I can understand that, but if you spend the $ for an alignment now and they do not fix the problem and you need to replace the ti rods then you need to pay for another alignment. I am trying not to pay the extra $ if I do not have to....
I took my truck to Midas (I think) for an alignment and they would not do the alignment without the tie rods being replaced. Any reputable shop will give you a free inspection. Since they wanted to charge $500+ for the work and I knew that they were around $40 each, I purchased aftermarket and had my brother do the job. I spent like 100 bucks. Oh, minus the $89 alignment.
I have an 01' EB with 99K miles and am having the same problem with the inside if the tire wearing much more than the outside. I am convinced that it is the ball joints. I am shopping to have them changed out with joints that have zerk fitting for lubrication. I had the vehicle aligned about 5K miles ago and the problem persists...
