I never raced them. But I used to go watch them race once in a while. Those little cars are fast.

I have a Tamiya Clod Buster and an RC 10 Truck that I used to run before my days of driving. My friend (Big time Ford family) and I used to mud bog the Clud Busters all the time in my back yard on weekends. The trucks were also great in the snow! (Up to a certain limit). My truck still works... just haven't ran it in a while. Someday when I get a house in a few years I'll get them going again. The RC 10 had a "modified" motor. It was setup to run on carpet oval track. That thing really moves! It just needs a speed controller and a little TLC now.
