Does anyone have a nice picture of the RMS and cover plate that is leaking?

 

Are you looking for a 'tear down' image with leakage, or a diagram/illustration (shop manual) image of the seal and rear engine cover?

Check out the tech folder stickie. Look for the link to the 6.0 bible, it has a good shot of the RMS in there.

OK does that rear plate house the RMS and if it does can it be removed and is that where the rear o-ring goes. I also noted that the 6 Bolts can not be removed if they are the entire crank has to be replaced and i bet some mech have accidently done this and has caused some folks nothing but grief.

 

The rear main is pressed into the rear engine cover.. It can be removed without pulling the rear cover OR pulling the seal hub.. The RM seal hub IS NOT to be removed.. It is matched/turned with the crank, and will not center correctly if the bolts are pulled.. The complete rear engine cover is sealed with an oring type cover seal.. Two mistakes made when resealing the rear of the engine are.... pulling the seal hub bolts, and not cutting the silcone 'ends' at the bedplate to rear engine cover during a removal..

Hey HP thanks for the insight B/c i thinking about having my BH hanging drip fixed and wanted the most info on the rear of the Motor. I too worked on diesels MB,BMW,volvo for 11 yrs but needed info on the 6.0 to talk turkey with the diesel tech and SR at the local Ford dealer.

 

I would like to purchase the 6.0l bible that is on this site is it available or do i need to get my buddies dealership to order it for me?

 

I had my rear main replaced twice with a rear cover reseal for a 'precautionary' leak.. If they had just left it alone and done just the RM, it all would have been OK on the first attempt, but the rear cover developed a leak later on due to the reseal! After a couple of attempts it was dry.. The 6.0 Bible can be downloaded for free and saved to disc/hard drive ect.. Link below should take you there.. Its a large file and will take some time..
