For those of you who have ever bought groceries at a Super Walmart, do they in your area use TONS of bags, to bag your stuff? Everytime we go there we have many more bags than if we went to another store. Tonight we ended up with 15 bags, and most of them only had maybe 2 or 3 things in them. Just wondered if anybody else finds this odd.
That does seem a bit strange. We just upgraded ours to the super grande bigger than before walmart. Just opened the food section last week. How is their selection?
EDIT: but now that I think about it, it isn't just groceries. Whenever I go in there they give us a thousand bags when I buy anything. Usually stuff I really don't need any bags for. They put my can of dip in a bag every time.

Yeah, I think it has something to do with their bag recycling efforts......*laughs* They want to give you more plastic bags to put in their little recycling bins....makes 'em look good to the tree-huggers and such. *smiles* Seriously, though, I don't know why they do that....could be just the particular people that are bagging your groceries..............*shrugs*
They do the same thing at the super walmart here in Mustang. I always thought it was odd and a bit wasteful. I can't stand tree huggers so I throw all of mine in the trash. That'll show them.
I've found unused bags inside the grocery bags several times.
I don't believe it's policy to do that. I think it's just whoever bags your stuff. At mine, they pack the bags pretty full. It is policy to put the items in a bag even if it's only one small thing. The one good thing about W/M's bags is that their big enough to use in several of my small trash cans around the house. The other Supermarkets bags are too small and go in the trash which is a waste. I guess they make the Supermarket bags that small so that little blue haired lady shoppers can handle them better.
that irritates me to no end. it is a really bad problem at ours no matter what you buy of who checks your stuff. i usually go right behind the cashier and start filling the bags up. my wife says i am wrong for that but she never lends a hand to help bring the groceries in even though i help her put them away.

Yeah buddy!!! Trash can liners. They make great little bags for puttin' the used oil filter in, too. Clean way to transport it to recycle day at the dump. Oops. No automotive talk. Sorry! (I'll go stand in the corner for 51 minutes.)
It's because they don't want the customer to claim breakage of something because the bags were packed too full (heavy),the bag rips & stuff hits the floor and breaks.
Wal-Marts bags are a lot stronger than a few of our discount grocery chain.
Wal-mart is a company that actually listens to customers - a lot of people complained about bags being too heavy and/or ripping apart - so Wal-Mart intentionally does not over load the bags - thought there is a variant dependant on who is loading the bags. And yes, they do use a better quallity bag than a lot of other discount merchants.
FYI - these bags are recycleable in most areas with recycling programs.
Cheers!
I think it's because people complained about things breaking in their bags, and elderly people that couldn't carry a packed sack. Wal-Mart is a company that listens to customers as well as their employees..
They do the same here......many bags. I have to admit that they are easier to carry into the house but they sure don't keep can goods contained unless you shore them up with other bags or boxes.
We use them as trash can liners also.
