Yeah, I know, I'll go buy toothpaste, dental floss and a pack of gum. Total bags: 9. They even take out the gum sticks and put them in seperate bags.

Great for the dogs or hauling dirty diapers.

Just wondered if anybody else finds this odd.
It's funny that you bring this up in the manner that you do. My fiance used to work at Wally World as a cashier. She would tell me all the time about customers who WANTED 15 gazillon bags. They had to have everything doubled bagged, and were very picky about what could go into the bags with other stuff. Of course they always seemed to want more bags when she was running low(that Walmart didn't carry 12 years worth of bags on stock) You wouldn't believe how some people treated her, like she owed them something for shopping there. Some of the things she would tell me made me glad I wasn't there. I might have ended up punching someone out. LOL. Seriously, it's disgusting when customers treat cashiers so rudely for no reason.

Back on topic, I try to use as little bags as possible. I ask them not to bag my milk(like I have seen others who do), and I don't care I my dish detergent is in the same bag as my box of corn flakes. The way I see it, they're both in seal containers. Beleive it or not, I think some people want a billion bags to take home.

I was at the Shoprite the other day and noticed on the bag or on the bag dispenser, that for every bag you bring back and use again, you get a few cents off your bill. Guess the bags do cost them some money, or they wouldn't do that, unless they're all that concerned about recycling, which I doubt they are.

As for getting too many bags, yeah, I don't like too many, it just seems wasteful to me.

I find that there are unused bags attached to my "bagged" bags.

I guess they just rush

The blue bags were very strong. The white bags rip apart as easy as a Dodge. When they put items in the white bags, I often double them my self. I have found bags attached to other bags. We use them in the little garbage cans or take them back.

Rather than for garbage, any bags I collect through shopping at any store,I take to the local Food Bank for the people who need it.

This is part of my recycling program.
I recycle everythig I can.

The people that run it say, grab a pie or a cake for our appreciation.

Usually I pass,I prefer Bagels

i keep all my grocery bags. i have grocery bags filled with more grocery bags. we can't use them for garbage cuz they're too small. it slows down the trash guys so you can get a fine for using them. but when i go to the library they're happy to have them as is the thrift store. if it really bothers you just buy a few sturdy shopping bags and tell the grocery bagger to go ahead and fill them up. we were using re-usable shopping bags in europe as long as i can remember. if you didn't have your own bags you had to pay for them like 15 cents a shot so most people spent a few bucks on a couple of good strong nylon bags.

btw i think recycling is important and doing a few little things to recycle doesn't make you a tree hugging fanatic. all the crap we throw away has to go somewhere. we pay for it and then pay someone to get rid of it for us. but we don't want to pay more than we have to it all gets driven out of town and dumped in a hole somewhere.

We're saying use them inside the house and then you gather up all the trash from the house and put them in your big garbage can. How does this slow down the trash guys?

Might also be a slick way just to get you to come back to their store. It is like a coupon for a few cents off. Good marketing idea and it saves bags.
Good old fashioned win win situation.

You spend so much time in the store waiting to check out, you can use them as a pillow next time you're in.

They have those bags on a rotating thingy... I usually just grab my item out of there...

I use the extra bags for the cat litter box. The more bags the better!

Dennis, I never thought of that. Our Church is going to start helping out the Food Bank here in town. As a pick up center for people. They will come in handy for that. Thank you for the idea.

This site can have some great idea's on it. That is why I like FTE.

I gotta say here, I really miss paper bags. I have a box crammed absolutely full of plastic bags in my garage. I do use them for trash cans in the house, but my stock of bags is way out in front of my usage of them, and growing weekly. With paper bags, I could fold them up and take them to the local recycling center in a box in the back of my pickup. Plastic bags tend to blow out of the bed on the way there.
