There isn't a imbalance difference between a 85 351 and a 70 302. They both used 28 oz imbalance. The 302 changed to 50 oz imbalance in 81. There may be a difference in the number of teeth on the flywheels and the diameter of the flywheel depending on which trans was behind the flywheel and on the size of the bellhousing.
after doing the rebuild on my 351w i must have got the 302 flywheel mixed up with the 351w and put the 302 fly on. It never ran good at all and there for I never drove it except around the block about 5 times trying to figure out what was wrong. right now i have everythig ready to pull the motor out and replace the fly. should i be concerned with any possible damage? If so what should i be looking for?
I had a 351W flywheel on a 302 and it shook like a seriuos drag car, they call it the "Death Shake". It will eventually cause premature bearing failure on yer bottom end if it is not taken care of. But if you have only driven it for just a few miles , then you should be A ok. Do the swap and that will get things a little smoother for you.
