WOW that looks really good, I am lucky if I have time or what ever to remember to just put paint on my stuff. Thats really impressive I like it can't wait to see if finished. Oh and BTW I hate body work too.
The body is going to be blue & silver, slightly darker blue than what is on my 79 supercab but they silver will be the same,

I took everything to reno at the same time, frame, both diff housings (stripped), all four hub assemblies with rotors mounted on them, the front outer steering knuckles with high steer arms & lower bearing mounts bolted on, all 8 4-link bars, & one cross member, I also had two motorcycle wheels done at the same time for a freind, & everything cost $1600, the wheels were just over $150,
It was nice to take in a dirty rusty frame & parts, then go in 2 weeks later & pick up all the pieces looking better than new,
Several of my friends have said that I won't have the guts to get the truck dirty when I finish it, But the powder coating wasn't done for the bling affect (though it does have the bling o meter registering high) powder coating is suppose to be very tough, & when in the mud I need something thats going to stay on there, we'll see how tough it really is,
I believe you are gonna find that not only is it tough but wil most likely clean up much easier too, man that thing does look sweet, and actually that price was't as bad as I figured it would be.
Nice work, can't wait to see it finished.
Dang that looks niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Its tempting for me to get alot of the parts (and the body if possible) powder coated on my flareside and the gravel roads i drive chips paint off in a hurry. Man i can't wait to see the finished product, and some actions shots as well .
Not to rain on the parade here, but powder coating is not indestructable. I have easily destroyed powder coating driving gravel roads, logging trails, and once even in the city. Once you get a little chip in it, that is it, its gonna peel like a swede in the sun. So keep an eye on things and if you get a chip catch it.
Whoa, that is super clean. You do impeccable work Powder coating is pretty tough and looks great on that frame. The only real drawback with it is you can't touch it up like por15. Whats your wheelbase on that?

I have a friend redoing an old dodge & is using POR15, from what I can tell that looks like some good stuff, That would definatly be my next option had I not decided on the powder coat,
The frame is from a 79' bronco which origonally had a 104" wheel base, when I mounted the coil over mounts & did the 4-link I stretched it to 107", Kind of stubby but less wheight. Since the bed is approx. 10" shorter than a stock 49' a friend said it's an "ultra short bed",
The finished project pictures are still a ways away, hopfully I get the truck done in time to do a little testing before winter, then after a good beating I can spend part of the winter upgrading/repairing weak parts,

Yea, I thought that looked too short for a '49. 107 is a great wheelbase. I CANNOT wait to see the final product, I love the bodystyle and you are doing it all right. Great stuff.
Just when I'd convinced myself that it wasn't in my best interest to finish pulling the body off the Cap'n and get the frame powedercoated you go posting pics like that. Hmmm . . . what to do what to do . . .
Looks awesome man! I can't wait to see that truck all together.

Judging from the latest pics I've seen of your truck you still have quite a bit to remove before powder coating, I say get your truck togeather & let the beating begin,
Your project has been down long enough, are you having mud withdrawls yet?
Also Pro, or Ivan, whe you installed your 35 spline outers, how far did they stick out past the hub/rotor assembly? If I put a strait edge on the end of my stub axle I have about 1/4 in. sticking out past the wheel bearing hub,
My warn 35 spline hubs are ordered when I get them I can make sure everything is going to work, I guess if the axle is sticking out a little far I'll just remove the stubs, chuck them up in the lathe & turn a little off, just wondering how yours were compared to mine,
