The general rule of thumb here on this forum has been that Superchip is better than Hypertech.I would consider a Superchip tuner which is better than just a chip.A chip has no user adjustability, the tuner has lots of options you can play with-trans shift points, shift pressure, remove speed limiter etc. With the Superchip tuner you can expect around 20-25 hp but you have to use premium fuel.I have one and it is great.
I found the info on hypertech’s tuner, it’s also a programer and about the same hp numbers with 93 octane fuel. It appears they both have dual fuel upgrades and I’m not sure it’s worth it for what I was looking for. I found the hypertech on ebay that is why I was asking about it, it’s about ½ price of new right now. Thanks for the information.
I have a Hypertech and my friend has the Superchip... not much difference whatsoever. You can do the same adjustments as the other... shift points, shift firmness, octane change, tire size... etc...
I've had 2 Hypertech tuners on mine...both the older one and the newer one (that reads the codes). Don't know the part #'s off-hand. Love both of them. I have run the 93 octane tune-up on mine for about 30k+ miles now while all the while running 87 octane gas with zero ill-effects. And I tow a LOT of heavy loads.
