04 4x4 diesel with 4 inch lift. It got better with a lot of trial an error of different size shims (4 wheel parts did the lift and the service). I've tried three different tires, still have the vibration and I can't stand it anymore. Any ideas?
I guess that I could have someone do a more scientific shim alignment job but I have no idea where to go. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Phoenix/Tucson AZ area.
I was experiencing the same problem just the other day with my 2000 V-10 X. My vibration turned out to be the inboard U-joint (near the transfer case). The vibration was more of a resonation, but would get worse as I passed 70 mph. I replaced the U-joint and all is smooth again, all the way to 80. Upon inspection of the joint, all the needle bearings appeared to be ok, it just smelled burnt when I took the caps off.
BTW, my local FORD stealer wanted $70 each for the U-joints. I got heavy duty DANA u-joints with grease fittings from Carquest for $17 each.
