hwy sputtering
I have an87 bronco,302,5.0, elec. fuel inj. when i get up to speed on the hwy, 55mph-65mph, the truck starts to sputter, if i put it in reg D, not overdrive, it is fine, it seems to only happen in that smooth overdrive gear at around 2,000 rpm. Anybody have any ideas i would appreciate the help. thanks guy819

I am only telling you the following because it happened to mine as well, I just hope it isn't the same case for you. When I first got my Bronco a long time ago....I had the same issue. Even if I was driving around town and it hit D around 2000 rpms, it would act like a manual tranny in too high a gear for the speed. I ended up getting the motor rebuilt before it was fixed. Before you go that far though, I would go through EVERYTHING possible that would cause something like that outside of what you have already done. Such a also check the exhaust for blockage, check very close for vacuum leaks, check your fuel pressure...etc. Get a can of BG44K from your local parts store and run that in your tank. But only 1 per year...strong stuff. I hope you find the prob and its an easy one.
