I just bought an 82 f150 4x4 lwb 351w. The front fuel tank has been removed d/t it being rusted out long b4 I got it. When i go to put fuel in the rear tank I have to go at about 1 gallon per minute or else it splashes out and shuts pump down. It comes back up the filler vent so fast I can't get anywhere with it. yes 20 minute for 15-17 gallon fillup. This is driving me nuts. What can I do? Where do I start.
lots of times the inner vent hose will kink if some one has tried to take off the fill hose. i would take the tanks hose off and inspect boththe fill hose and the inner vent hose.
might wanna try pulling the pump nozzle out a little. If i stick the nozzle in my truck all the way to the spring it will take a little then pop the pump handle. so i pull it out a little and i can fill fast as the pump will go.
there should be a little plastic tube inside the filler neck its about 1/2 inch diameter and it is held into the metal part of the filler neck and inside the tank. if its pinched or missing then you will hav to replace it.
