All of my gauges work in my f100, exept the temp gauge. I checked to see if the wire was connected to the temp sending unit and it is. What would go out on this gauge that would cause it to not funtion? I would like to get the stock gauge working if I can. thanks
Remove the wire from the sending unit and ground it. Should make the gauge peg HOT. If it does, then the sending unit is bad, an easy fix. If this does not make the gauge function then you have issues with cluster or somewhere towards that.
Ok, i grounded the wire and the gauge did go to hot, do we know the gauge works. I pulled athother sending unit off of a 460 manifold and replaced the bad one in the 360. Now the gauge will move, but when fully warm, I will not come out of the cold portion of the gauge. Is there a chance that the other unit I put in is also bad? thanks for your help
Each sending unit would have a different "resistance" range, thus the one from the 460 is not reading far enough(too high resistance). I would suggest purchasing the correct one for your application and you'll probably be set.
