Temp gauge not working

I replaced water pump ,thermostat,hoses and sending unit on my 2001 F350 7.3 A/T with 212,000 miles now my temp gauge is not working, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Shu

The wiring as well.


Did the old one register on the Dash? Its direct wire and does not route through the PCM on Automatics.


Have you tried the old unit? that could rule out wiring or confirm a suspicion.

I replaced mine with one from Rock Auto when I did my water pump. When I was looking everything over getting ready to do the job the threads on the old one looked like they were corroded so that's why I ordered one. The new one did not work. Turns out the old one was not in bad shape and I stuck it back in. Has been working ever since. Rock auto sent me a refund and didn't want the old sensor back.
