Tailgate squeaks?

Has any1 noticed on their truck that there is a squeaking sound?
on my 04 FX4 w/ the windows down and in a quiet neighborhood or parking garage I can hear a sqeaking sound as I drive. I went to the dealership and the guy said it was from the tail gate.
Any1 else have this problem?

Mine used to squeak in reverse when braking. My local dealer claimed it to be a bad rotor, and replaced it under warranty. Good Luck!

Mine would squeak on bumps and going down the road. The dealership "adjusted" it however that did not work. So I put some grease on the latch and problem solved. Just a little on both sides where the tailgate catches the pin on the bed sides.

The squeaks that I have heard are from the rear spring pack. The dealer lubed the teflon pads and the U clamps on both ends of the springs per a TSB and the sound went away. This was done last fall and the sound is back so I'm going to let the dealer take care of it again. This time though I am going to test drive a new Mustang GT while I'm waiting.

For those who are not mechanics, but do it yourselfers, use white grease, for this, or door wax, so it doesn't get on your cloths, hands, and stain your shirt when you are the spouse are tossing in groceries.

Mine did it as well. Dealer checked alignment on the tailgate and it was fine. I am sure it was tailgate for you could place you hand on the center at the top and lightly push and pull and you could hear it at the bump stops. I agree with chris use the white greese or I used WD40 under the little plastic covers on the hooks and also make sure if you have had your bed sprayed that you do not have any overspray in the latch area. I did and remove this and did the lube and it worked well.

Now if I can just figure out why and how to fix the clicking noice I get in the B-Pillar. i think it is the door lock for the bump stop at the back looks like it is cracked. Any suggestions?

mine was squeeking until I realized that it wasn't latching all the way on the right side. I have to ush fairly hard (a lot harder than you would think) on the right side of the tailgate untill the latch "clicks" into place. When I do this there are no squeeks. I guess I was driving around for 6,000 miles with my tailgate partialy unlatched on the right side...

Maybe I should see if the dealer can "adjust" it...
