hey guys just wondering, if i swap out my 2bbl for a 4bbl will my car run alright? I snaged both from a local u-pull-it and the intake is from a 5l but the 4bbl is off a 460. How much tinkerig will i have to do? Will bolting the carb on make it go or just sputter fart and die? its in a little mustang and is supposed to be the donor engine for my ranger eventually. I want more go and i dont care how much gas i burn-if i wanted fuel mileage i would buy a volks tdi.
if its a 302 manifold and a 460 carb with the big rear barrels then you might be able to get an adapter from MR GASKET. i would recomend a 600 holley with equal size barrels it will bolt right on.

I had a 4 bbl on my 67' Bronco with a 289 (same as a 302) and the trick set-up for me was a Carter 4-bbl. It wasn't a spread-bore like the Motorcraft you "pulled" but it worked perfectly for a lot of years. Besides, as I remember, the 4 bbl manifold for a 289/302 is a 4 hole, non-split plenum pattern -- not a spread-bore dual-plenum.
According to the Holley Selection Guide, a 302 that's "Mild" (stock) should have a 390 cfm Carb. and one that's "Hot" (modified) should have a 600 cfm. Only a "Wild" (Competition) engine calls for a 650 cfm or larger Carb. If you have a Motorcraft for a 460, you probably have too much Carb. for the Cubes.
thanks 4 the input. I plan on trial and error with the carb i have, and if it doesn t work then ill use some of the ideas you all gave. The gaskets i have line up and the carb works fine on the intake i just wasn't sure if it was going to make the engine bit more than it could chew. im going to try it will update on my success or failure
