Sorry about that Stuart, this all started from another post where all that info was posted. I kinda screwed things up when I started this related thread (did so because I couldn't edit original post).
Here's the info: 93 E.B. Bronco, 5.8 L, E4OD, 155K miles, pretty much everything is stock. It has 31s on it. I'm not sure if 31s are stock. It has a rebuilt engine (AC Delco) with about 23k miles on it. They put new wires, cap, rotor, distrib. and plugs with engine install. That was about 4 years ago.
I called the shop that put the engine in, they're telling me my hwy rpm, acceleration, power-loss problem sounds like an exhaust restriction problem...and that if it's coding 628, that my tranny probably won't make it crosscountry towing...
I haven't driven her very much because I've been lucky enough to have a work vehicle for the past few years. I did run her on weekends to keep the fluids moving around. Now I am moving back to Florida to teach, and she'll be my sole source of transportation. So, I am trying to get her ready for that...that's it...Thanks for trying to figure this thing out for me...
That is a memory code.
It means at one time there was a problem.
Have all codes erased and then try it.
Quite often a minor engine concern wiil throw the transmission out of kilter.
That problem I had with my T/C was a shudder under acceleration or at certain cruising speeds. . it would stop if I let off the gas and floor it. Once i changed it it stopped.
U-Joints haven't been checked, but it doesn't seem like a u joint problem...I am leaning towards a cat problem...I going to try and get it checked out tonight...i'll post when I get results...
Well, it's been a while since I posted on this subject, but here's is what seemed to fix the problem. I changed the wires, plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and air filter. It seemed to run 100% better. The plugs were a little gapped out and the fuel filter may have been restricted a little. I made my move to Florida towing a sheet load of weight. All went well. My torque converter went out on me a week later!!! I was just glad I was able to make it through all those mountains and into Florida to have a local shop do the job...They are going to give the tranny rebuild to (155k miles). Stans Transmission in Daytona is hooking me up...They are the best in the area. Thanks for the help.
