I recently acquired a 79 f-600, 370 2-v engine is seized. how can I get engine to un freeze. I,ve removed carb , intake manifold, starter, valve covers ,then i filled cylinders ,intakes to valves,and engine with penetrating andlubricating oils. the motor has been soaking for a week,and will not move with breaker bar . Is there anything else I can do to move the pistons?
Do you know the history of the engine? Are you sure it didnt sieze because of a crankshaft problem? If the pistons are siezed that tight then I'm sure it will probably be a real smoker if it ever does free up.
Also- have you removed the spark plugs and sprayed penetrating oil in there. If the intake valve isnt open then spraying oil down the intake wont do any good.
Do not know history of engine. M y next step is to drain all oil & pull pan and oil pump. Is it possible for the oil pump to seize crankshaft ? you are correct about intake valves , they have been holding oil for acouple of weeks. no penetration. Pulled plugs and filled cylinders, 7 of 8 have slow seep. thanks Robert
370 / 429 big truck engines will drop right in. Pickup @ car engines can be installed but it takes some modifications. The front motor mount @ timing cover are different, the heavy truck engines have a larger crank snout than the car/ PU engines. As far as I know the heavy truck engines take the earlier style internally balenced flywheel. If you decide to use a car/pu engine
let me know @ I can give you the details on that swap.
I have a F700 with a 77 460 . HOTWRENCH
is the 370 engine you have a 370 lima engine if so there is a nice running one near me if you want it its free it is part of a leftover collection of truck from a old farm they just moved the trucks and built a school where the farm was.
O.k. I have pulled intakemanifold, fuelpump, oil pump, alternator, power steering, waterpump, oilpan, distributer, carb, starter,valve covers, and i still can not turn crankshaft. No visible signs of rust. I let engine soak for 2 weeks; when I drained the engine 8.5 gals of penetrating & lub oils were recovered. I had a friend give me a short tow last week, put in 1 gear and tow vehicle stalled. is it time to get a new engine or rebuild this one. thanks for offering the free engine. Robert {ellis co texas}
