I got a 85 Bronco with the 300 engine. My question is when i go to start it it will turn once then die then slowly turn again and fire right up. Kinda annoying to me so i wanna fix it. i changed the soleniod because it was throwin sparks and stuff and it stoped doin it for maybe 4 weeks now its doin it again. the soleniod was a used on so maybe that one went bad now??? any other ideas why its doin this?
try cleaning your battery posts and cable terminals...and make sure you have a good clean ground for your negative cable, and a good connection on your starter for your positive cable...and possibly look into a new voltage regulator, as well, because if it's not doing its job, your battery might be getting hot and losing some of it's charge that way....check the cells in your battery and if any are low, fill them w/ distilled water....
i need the timing set right on it i know that much. another thing is that when i went to change batterys i had one on he charger that i know is good and i went to put it in and it wouldn't even try to turn but it was fully charged so i got my other one and put it on the chager then put it in and it barly started it now it seems to be fine. but i know both of the batterys were fully changered and in workin order
1. With a analog volt meter, battery voltage should be 12.8 volts + - with the ignition off and battery fully charged. With the starter engaged - e.g engine is turning over, battery voltage should not drop lower than about 10.6 volts. If it does drop lower than 10.6 volts - battery would IMO be highly suspect. If the battery voltage does not drop below 10.6 while the starter is engaged, use a clamp-on ammeter to determine if your starter motor is drawing more than 200 amps. If so, remove the starter and have it checked out. Bushings, brushes and the like have a finite life and the motor could be just plain worn out.
