I would just like to thank everyone who has helped me out with rebuilding my baby! Its not quite finished yet, I still need to put some bumpers on, but I could help it! I posted some pictures of her. This was my first time restoring a truck from the frame up. I wanted to say this site ROCKS!!!!
Thanks again guys! Anyone new here, listen up! there is a lot of good advice and a lot of great people here!
Congratulations on getting it finnished! Your truck turned out great, i bet your glad to have it done. Hopefully mine will look as good in a few months.
Looks good you did a nice job on that, glad it worked out, now just enjoy it, and enjoy the jealous looks of people driving thier new vehicles that will never match up to what you have accomplished.
Who knows how much $$ in labor, I did a lot myself with help of friends and family over 5 years, here and there, wore out 1 air compressor in the process about 3 cheapo grinders and broke numerous wrenches not to mention knuckles.... I would think about $12000 in parts, I wouldn't let her go for less then $15000 minimum though. Had a lot of fun, doesn't feel like 5 years, but I do know I'm ready to start driving her and showing her off!
So what did you paint the frame with? Anything new or exotic. Looks good. When I see something like that I want to just get out to the garage and start again on my project. Haven't touched it for almost a year.
I used POR15 on just about everything underneath except under the cab I used Rocker Guard and then undercoated it with rubber undercoating (It was given to me for free from a buddy! Didn't want to waste it!)
Know what you mean about working on it. That is what is nice about having a 3 car garage. I could just leave it as is without having to pick anything up and come back later.
