Why not?

My company has a 'Shelter in Place' program, in case of some sort of terrorist attack.
We have pallets and pallets of bottled water stored in the building. (MREs, too.)

The company does rotate the stock every six months, though.

At the moment, I have 4 cases of bottled water in my garage.
IF the water is cool, sealed and un-tampered with, I see no reason that 'a couple of months' would hurt anything.

My 2¢.

If the bottle is a factory sealed bottle it should be good for quite awhile. If it was opened once then it is questionable.

You can store water by just putting a tiny bit of regular(non scented) laundry chlorine bleach in a gallon bottle. I forget the exact amount but I was told that when you empty the bottle, there is enough left in the bottle to do the job. A web search will probably turn up the exact amount for you.

On my travel trailer, I put just a few teaspoons into our 50g tank if I think it will sit awhile.

Good Luck,

They also sell " making potable water " treatment capsules at most camping equipment stores.

If you filled the bottles yourself, toss them. It is a factory job, it is OK.

I think sun light will make water go bad. Back in the old days they stored water in dark glass or clay bottles for this reason. If it wasn't in the sun light I would drink it.

Bottled water isn't regulated like other drinking fluids.

Read the label

You are better off filling your own bottle full of R/O water, than buying it from the store

RV filters work well for eliminating most contaminants. They connect to any hose connection and are available at camping world and such places.

Best storage bottles are made of polycarbonate plastic, and have a number seven inside a triangle on the bottoms to identify the material. These do not add anything to the water from leaching stuff out of the plastic, which is why they are preferred by bottled water distributors such as Sparklets, etc...

Do not fill bottles with your own RO water or tap water and then store them.

When setting up the sheltering of company employees in the event of an incident! We have several chemical plants here!

We we talked to several bottle water companies and we talked to them and the answer was:

Hard plastic (the drinking bottles you but in the store) are good for 12-18 months if stored out of sun light and in a cool place.
The water in soft plastic (white milk type jugs or bottles) are good for a year but you will get a plastic taste after 3-6 months!

An this is for factory sealed bottles!
