On some bottled water that was given to us a few years back when we got struck with a hurrican and we could not use water it said beside if used within 2 years, so I think your safe, and if you think otherwise then boil it first
I had some water in my truck I had taken a drink of about 6 months ago and then just tossed in the back (I have a Bronco II), and just drank it a couple weeks ago and I'm still alive. I've done it with older water than that too, you should be ok.
Romer that's hilarious, I've done the same thing when I'm mowing grass with old water.
we did a study in Chemistry my junior year in highschool or something, and discovered most bottled waters are no cleaner than tap water. I won't mention any spesific brands. anyhow the best water is deff. distilled.
Jake is right about the stuff called Polar Pure, it's iodine chrystals and it purifies water fine. and use it backpacking etc. all the time. and I have it in case of some huge disaster where we can't get water. it's a small bottle that will purify like 1,000 courts before it's worn out. beats storing 1,000 1qt bottles for sure.
to answer your questions I don't see why it'd hurt, I've drunk older water that was opened. and look how I turned out! . . . ok don't look at that, but I'm not dead :-)
Best storage bottles are made of polycarbonate plastic, and have a number seven inside a triangle on the bottoms to identify the material. These do not add anything to the water from leaching stuff out of the plastic, which is why they are preferred by bottled water distributors such as Sparklets, etc...
Wolf...that's neat. I never knew that. I just got up and looking at the bottle on top of the cooler, it's 7, and the plastic cup next to me in a 6. What do all of the numbers mean? If 7 is polycarbonate plastic, what's 6,5....etc.
Doesn't distilled water give you... the... runs? Thats what a few people have told me, something about our body not being able to handle PURE H20, our bodies are used to the little bit of calcium, magnesium, sodium and whatever else.
Tap water in this town is proven to have a lot more stuff then you want, but I'll use it for anything other then drinking. I buy the cheap $.59 a gallon stuff, gallon in the fridge and I always got nice, good tasting, cold water and one gallon outside for tea and other stuff.
I buy the polycarbonate plastic bottles. The one I usually drink out of (water, tea, koolaid whatever) is 34 oz and I never taste anything after it's gone. Like I could put koolaid in there, drink it and wash it out, then a day later have water and there is no koolaid reisdue or anything. Pretty cool little things.
