I want to put a dash pad in my truck. It does not have one now. I did a search and found alot of interesting threads but still have some questions.
Some of the places carry them for $450 or so. Does anyone know of a cheaper place? Do you know if this includes the trim?
There was an old post that mentioned a different thread with some instructions on making your own dash pad. I couldn't find the other one. Does anyone know how to do this?
Is the trim available separately?
I asked a couple of ebay sellers that were listing 67+ pads, and they did not carry the pad for our trucks.
if nobody replies to you about making one... go talk to a local apulstry shop. they would probably make one that looks real close to a facroty pad for under $450, or point you in the right direction to do it yourself
There was a kit to retrofit the 61-63 trucks. It was part number C1TZ 8104200-A.it had everything in it, pad, trim, clips and adhesive to install one in a truck without one.For 64-65, they used C5TZ 8104290-BFA which was just the pad. The early kit will fit the later years also. The only color was black. I tried the locator, but none came up.
Thanks Barry. Is it worth me calling around with those part numbers even though it doesn't show up in that locator? Are there separate part numbers for the trim?
The trim on the edge of the dash closest to the driver (vs. the one against the window) looks like it would be a good edge/stopping point for a custom pad. I guess the vinyl where it would meet the window could just be wrapped around the pad body and look fine. I'll check around with upholstery shops to see what they say. Thanks for that suggestion Todd.
Todd, I heard of one 16-18 months back but haven't heard any thing recent. If there was one available, this group surely would know about it. The is the First Church of the 61-66 F series truck and only gospel is allowed to stand.
I have been kicking around with the idea of a Rino Liner type material being sprayed on. That would tightly fit the contour, take away glare, offer some sound deadening, and could be very workable. I liked the dash in my Taurus and that gave me the idea.
I have also been thinking of installing it from the top of the windsheild, down the back across the floor, to under the dash as sound deading.
Yes, the mouldings are listed as separate items. If you want, let me know and I can look them up and see if any NOS ones are out there. You could call around with those numbers as not everyone is on the locator. There may be some out there. You never know....
