Well, after almost 6 months - I finally have the X sitting back in the garage!
The new engine is running great. I have run into one problem after another getting this done (none with the truck - just in life in general). I'm glad its all done. I ended up getting another Explorer 5.0 crate engine new for $1500 and using it as my starting point. Put a Comp Cam, 1.6 FMS Rockers and springs, MSD DIS4 ignition, MSD coil packs, 80mm MAS, Homemade intake with K&N on the end, 24lb injectors, Lightning fuel pump, Mallory adjustable fuel pressure regulator, FMS headers with a complete 3" new exhaust from the headers back (Flowmaster 40 series), a couple of other things... oh yeah - and a completely rebuilt and ported Eaton M90 supercharger with an 8lb pulley.
Now all I have to finish up is the fiberglass work I am doing and paint, and really give the suspension and undercarriage some TLC. The winter of 2003/2004 really did a number on the bottom. Its going to take a few hours of running the steel pads on places to get it cleaned up and ready for new paint under there also.
But I finally get to put some of the parts on I've been collecting over the winter on... my wife is happy - let me tell you....
very sweet. i have just begun looking at these explorer setups after buying a cobra m112 eaton blower for my capri. would love to see some pics of what your intake looks like (even though its just an m90)
