bw 1356 transfer case

ok, i know its lazyness, but i cant find my service manual. what is the proper fluid for a 1356 case, 90wt gear oil, or atf???

My 1356 uses ATF. Pull the oil level plug and check what's in there. Most probably it's red ATF.

thanks lou. i would do it that way, but its empty from the rebuild, and the shop is no longer in buisness. i talked to another rebuilder last night though, and he confirmed what you say, its atf .

I'm about to go to the Zone for $650 on my bw 1356 elec shift
Tranny place said $12 to $16

i paid $150 for it from pauls ford barn, outside of boston, and figured if i was putting in a fresh C/6, the case should be fresh also. that was $500, and they replaced all the guts
