Will be turning up the pump this weekend, so I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly where to put it-
I have two of them, one is a clamp on and one is a weld in, which would be the best?
Thanks for any info
Also, which way do I turn the fuel screw? I was told clockwise to put more fuel into it-
Thanks
Put it as close to the exhaust maniflolds as possible for the most accurate results. Most people use the weld in ones so I don't know much about the clamp on ones and how accurate they truley are at giving accurate exhaust temps.

So I can mount it right behind the exhaust manifold? I saw some that were mounted right behind the turbo, would it make any difference? Mounting behind the manifold would be much easier.
Highmark, the reason for installing the pyrometer is to measure exhaust gas temperatures as they relate to the engine. The closer to the manifold it is mounted the less the exhaust gasses will cool before the temperature is registered but follow the manufacturers recommendations. The unit may be calibrated for mounting in a certain location and running a specific length of wire. My turbo kit came drilled and tapped for installation just above the crossover Tee in the turbo uptake.
Drill and tap the drivers side manifold right above where the cross over pipe connects.
This is as close to the pistons as you can get the thermocouple.
The pistons are what you are wanting to protect.
They start melting at 1250 degrees.
Also this location makes the wires easy to route and plenty long enough to reach the pyrometer.
