I have always been a big fan of goosenecks myself but has anyone ever noticed any difference in fuel consumption differences between the two? I am wanting to think that a gooseneck would help you get better mileage due to less air being able to get between truck and trailer while traveling down the road.
Depends alot on size, of course. But comparing say a 16' x 6' bumper to a 16' x 6' gooseneck with the same load, I'd guess the gooseneck would use less fuel 'cause it sure seems to pull easier.
However, I pull a 20' x 6'8" gooseneck (Circle D, with high sides and a steel top and nose) and I'm thinking real seriously of getting a 12' x 5' or so bumper pull for running around with just a couple of head. Surely it's enough lighter that it'd take noticeably less fuel to drag it around. Had thought of something along the lines of a 12' x 6' single axle gooseneck, but I'd like to be able to pull it with the Expy if I ever need/want to, so it needs to be a bumper hitch.
