Simple Questions: Thermostat & Minimum Oil Pressure
Hi,
I installed a mechanical oil gauge a while ago, and notice that after starting up the truck and running for a while, it stays around 50LB psi (with very little variation between idle and 2500rpm), until after driving it for a little bit it eventually drops to 25LB psi at idle, and varys quite a bit when adding throttle (25LB to 45LB). Just wondering what the minimum oil pressure is for a 96 F-150 with the 300 to stay on the safe side of things.
I also figure that I should probably purchase and install a new thermostat as part of routine maitenence, as the one currently installed could very well be the original! (9 years old!) The problem is, I'm not sure exactly which one I should get (180 degree? 190 degree?). We have extremely cold winters here, and pretty hot summers as well.
Thanks
