Victor intake port mismatch?

I was fitting my intake gaskets to the TFS heads last night and making sure everything looked good. I'm using the FelPro 1230's recommended by Trick Flow. They match perfect on the head but when I went to compare them to the ports on the Victor intake I noticed the ports are off by almost 1/4". It appears the Victor is set up for CJ heads. When I search the Victor part numbers however I only see 2 options, 1 for Holley flange and one for Dominator. Is this supposed to be mismatched and will it affect my performance any?

Well damn, guess I could have done my research first. If anyone else comes across this here's some good info: http://www.network54.com/Forum/threa...eid=1104616905

Scott, if you happen to see this just wondering your opinion on whether I should try matching the ports or just run it as is. If you do recommend a port match shall I match the heads to the intake or the intake to the heads? Sounds like Charlie recommends opening up the heads a bit. I spoke with Lem this morning and he's sending me out some CJ intake gaskets so I'll be able to lay them on the heads and compare a bit better. Do you know of any dyno tests comparing the un-matched Victor/TFS combo to a matched set, with no port work done on the heads? I polished the exhaust but would prefer not to get too much into the rest if I can avoid it as I plan to have you port them when the new shortblock is done.

Talking Although the victor intake has D0VE sized port exits...

...the ports are on the CJ port centers. The manifold is by design meant to be port matched to a CJ application.

You can match the TFS streets to the as cast victor with very good results if you make a cardboard template to transfer the victor's runner exit locations to the TFS streets. I do this on all of the TFS ported streets I sell.

I would not leave the mismatch permently as it will cause a flow disruption and hence HP. The higher the output the greater the potential loss.

Regardless of what the DD2 states you would do just as well to 6K RPM with a performer RPM airgap IMHO. What the DD2 does not tell you is that with your smallish cam the airgap will make more average power overall for your application. The torque you are giving up with the victor is significant.

If you intend on having the castings ported I would leave the heads as they are now and bite the bullet for right now.

Good to know Scott. Thanks for the info. I'll toss the Victor in the rafters until I'm ready to send the heads to you. I know you'd suggested it when we talked a while back. I went ahead and bought one and it occurred to me just recently that you'd suggested it for a 545ci engine so I was not sure about the low end torque with a stock stroke. My axle ate up all my money and didn't leave me anything for the rotating assembly just yet.

Will there be a significant gain for me with an airgap over the regular Performer RPM intake that I already have? Or do you think the Performer would do alright with a 2" spacer? If it's going to gain me a decent amount of hp I don't mind getting an airgap bit I wasn't sure of the difference in performance.

Thanks again for all your help.

EDIT: OR for my application do you think a Weiand Stealth would be a better option than either my RPM Performer intake or the airgap?
