I bought my first diesel in July. What a truck. '97 F350 LB SRW CC 4X4. I doubt I will ever buy another gas powered truck. I am going over the truck for inspection and found an inline transmission filter with no number on it other than 3/8 (10 mm) hose size. I assume that this was added and is not factory. Does anyone know where to get a replacement? It is about 4" long X 2 1/2 dia. with 10 ribs around the diameter. It is in the return line after the cooler. Also do the increased fluid capacity tansmission pans with flow thru cooling ports help pull down transmission temperature? I plan on having a 2200 lb. slide in camper on the truck and towing another 8000 to 10000 lbs. I have a transmission temperature gauge ordered and it will be installed soon. Last question. The tranmission cooler measures 10 3/4" wide by 12" high. Is that the size of the factory cooler or is it an aftermarket. The transmission is more than likly the weakest link in this truck and I want to make it as reliable as possible.
Hi nice truck, I have the same one 97 f350,cc 4x4 e40d 180k what did you pay for it?
The filters you can probably do a google search for I saw them some where , there are lots of places that might have one , but if you dont get any luck I might be able to find the sites, the cooler sounds bigger than the stock, but you might want to repalce it anyway they're not that expensive and it might save your tranny. you could just add an other cooler in line, I'll be doing that in about a week two mine as soon as my tru-cool gets hear. good luck j
Hi WYCOWBOY, I gave $15,500. 205,000 miles, extremely clean with original paint, two owners with service records from the second owner. Banks Transcommand and gauges for boost and EGT, Unigoose frame mounted hitch, 3" down pipe and full open exhaust, Westin nerf bars and new front springs to level out the truck. Dealer invested in new tires, front brakes, ball joints, fully serviced and inspected. They are out there cheaper with less miles but not easy to find here on the east coast. I am also in the process of install the big NAPA filter. I love this truck.
