My thoughts are that I would prefer the looks of the sprayed in, but need the drop-in. If your truck is going to be used to haul more than a cooler and a gas grille (which I suspect is about it for a good share here) then you are better off with the cheaper and more durable drop-in.
For the many of you with the extra-cab, automatic "grocery-getters" with two-tone paint you are likely ok with the sprayed in liner.
hi labgal , you might want to check out a company called superliner on the net and check to see if there is a local dealer in your area ,i am from south of new orleans and there are 2 here the spray in liner is great i have two trucks with it one is a 2001 that i had sprayed 2 weeks after i got the truck it is a flexible liner that is color matched to interior or truck color great product,
If you're going to do any actual work with your truck then an old-fashioned drop-in bedliner is the way to go. I wouldn't have mine done with spray-in if the offered to do it for free.
I've seen a lot of sprayed ones that have worn through. I guess if your truck is a "grocery getter" then you might be ok with sprayed in.
So spray-in is for a "Ladies truck" right Sean? And what's so old-fashioned about them new fangled drop-in liners?
Well if it wears through they (Line X, Rino, Extereme) will repair it N/C because it under Warranty. I have slid cement blocks, trees, scap steel on mine.......wash it out with soap and water........looks new again (I have Extreme liner)
Sounds like the Line-x does what you want, gives a non-slip surface and most importantly prevents the bed from rusting through, as has happende with my 1977 F150. The drop-in will not prevent rust. I am convienced to go with the line-x for my 05 F350, thanks for the information, will make the calls tomorrow.
It may be overkill, but I dropped in a rubber mat for protection over my Line-X. My intent with Line-X was only to protect against rust, not from shovels or dents. Very happy with the mat on top of the Line-X.
This is probably the best idea I've heard so far when it comes to bedliners. Personally, I don't care for the drop-in liner at all, which is what I have. However, the spray-in wouldn't last me a week.
You'll have a better item at resale and, like you say, you're protecting against rust.
